Deep Thoughts from Noah #20

While I sat at the computer mumbling and grumbling under my breath, Noah asked, "Mom, what are you doing?"
"I'm talking to your Dad via instant message and he's making me crazy," I replied.
"Oh, what kind of crazy?" Noah thoughtfully inquired.

Derby Days 2013

Though Noah's car didn't earn any awards, I feel like the experience of participating was a win for our entire family. For weeks leading up to the race, Noah and Steve worked together -- planning, shaping and constructing his entry. During that time the conversations between the two of them seemed richer -- a tall order when you are dealing with a child with very narrow interests and whose conversations often involve reenacting a movie scene.  Not only am I thankful that this event gave my husband and son an opportunity to bond and spend quality time together - it also allowed Natalie and I the chance to root for our favorite team.

Musings from Natalie #32

While waiting our turn at the gas pump...Natalie piped up from the backseat, "Mom, I just smiled at waved at that man."
"Hmmm...why'd you do that?" I asked.
"Because he's old and I wanted him to remember what it's like to be young," explained Natalie.

Because sometimes it's better to think inside the box.

Deep Thoughts from Noah #19

Noah: "Mom, can we say bad words in this family."
Me: "Um...no."
Noah: "But, what about to my sister?"

I Know What You Mean #13

"Mom, why does she have an entertainer in her mouth?" asked Natalie
Hmmm...I think she meant retainer.

When I didn't acknowledge Natalie's sneeze quickly enough, she responded, "You need to blush me."
Hmmm...I think she meant bless me.

Musings from Natalie #31

"But, Mom -- I can't make my bed because my stuffed animals are still sleeping," explained Natalie.

Natalie: "Mom, how will I know which house to buy when I grow up?"
Me: "I guess you'll buy the one you like and can afford."
Natalie: "What if I don't have enough money?"
Me: "I guess you could rent or you could live with Daddy and me and save up until you had enough to buy a house."
Natalie: "But where will my baby sleep?"
(Pow. I can't believe I didn't see that one coming)

Deep Thoughts from Noah #18

Noah: "Mom, what kind of money did you use when you were a girl?"
Before I could answer, Natalie piped in, "trading!"
(Hmmm...with my birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, maybe I should trade one of them...for a walker.)
