Noah: OOOWWW!
Me: Are you okay?
Noah: No! I hurt my foot on the wall!
Me: Did the wall move?
Noah: No! It's because we have a small house...why do we have to have a small house?
Me: Noah, we live in this house because that's what we can afford.
Noah: Hmmff...I feel like that's just an excuse.

Happy Birthday to our Favorite Senior Citizen!
Fifty-one tax days ago...our Steve-o was born.
"So...Dad, can we call you a senior citizen now?" asked Natalie
Steve is pretty much a 'no fuss, I don't need anything for my birthday and since I've eliminated sugar from my diet no need to make me a cake' -- kind of guy.
However, I've known this man for nearly 20 years and while he may have removed sugar from his diet, there is one dish I know he cannot say no to -- biscuits and gravy.
Oh yeah.
But since Steve is a connoisseur of said meal, Natalie and I purchased all the ingredients he would need to make it himself.
We're good like that.
Then Natalie and I shopped at Barnes & Noble. She used her own money to purchase him a gardening book to support his passion for growing things.

Musings From Natalie #154
This past weekend Steve, Nat and I enjoyed the sunshine while strolling the neighborhood. (Nevermind that tonight temps in St. Louis are supposed to dip down to the mid 20's). In any case the walk served to stir up her creative juices and she has some new material...
Hey Mom! Wanna hear some new jokes I made up?
Sure!
What does a flower call its friend?
I don't know, what?
His bud-dy!
What is a frog's favorite flower?
What?
A crocus!

Deep Thoughts From Noah #88
Sometimes having a conversation with Noah can be difficult...most of our convos involve him re-enacting a segment from a movie or show. Or, he's asking me to listen to him mimic a cartoon character. However, recently, he's started asking me to play "Would you rather?" His pairings are often both interesting and creative and lead to better communication between the two of us. I feel hopeful each time we play. Below are some of his recent ones...
Would you rather drown in hot lava or quick sand?
Would you rather be a mermaid or a bouncer?
Would you rather work at The Crusty Crab or The Chum Bucket?

Deep Thoughts From Noah #87
St. Louisans know temperature is temporary. In a span of a few hours numbers can fluctuate 40 degrees. While driving Noah to school he listened to the radio announcer share how the 55-60 temps we've been enjoying the last couple of days will soon be dipping into the 20's...to which Noah exclaimed, "What?! That's harassment!"
I loathe cold weather, however, I've never thought to call Mother Nature out on her offensiveness in that way...which made me want to put his thought into a sentence
Dear Mother Nature
I find your lack of temperature stability offensive. Please stop harassing St. Louisans.
Thank you.

Deep Thoughts From Noah #86
School morning rush (though I seem to be the only one in the house moving...Noah is taking his time to enjoy his daily, 3 course breakfast while Natalie is staring off into space -- trying to wake up.)
Noah: "Mom, would you sit with me?"
Me: "Honey, I have to get ready."
Natalie: "Mahhhmmm -- please sit with me."
Me: "You guys need to get up earlier. I don't have time now. I need to get dressed and fix my hair and put on my make-up."
Noah: "But, Mom...God doesn't care about that."
(I give...you win...again)

Biography poem
On his last day of school before Christmas break Noah was asked to clean out his desk. He brought home a slew of old homework sheets for me to view and toss ...but this one seemed more of a keeper.
Noah
Happy, friendly, dramatic
Brother to Natalie
Lover of Star Wars, gaming and piano
Feels awesome, cool and crazy
Needs chocolate, friends and guidance
Gives hugs, compassion and advice
Fears bugs that look scary
Hopes for world peace
Resides in Shrewsbury, Missouri
Felgenhauer
